Hyaluronic Acid:
From a chemical point of view, Hyaluronic Acid is classified as a glycosaminoglycan, its great solubility in an aqueous environment is important to ensure the hydration of tissues while protecting them from excessive stress and strain.
Hyaluronic acid is one of the main components of connective tissue, in particular of its amorphous substance (or fundamental substance, a compact gel in which collagen and elastin fibers are immersed).
Its ability to bind water and other substances gives rise to protective gels, particularly useful for the skin and joints.
By stimulating the formation of collagen and connective tissue, Hyaluronic Acid protects the body from viruses and bacteria, increases the plasticity of the tissues and guarantees optimal skin hydration.
It also has cicatricial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Butcher’s Broom (Ruscus aculeatus):
is a perennial plant that grows spontaneously in the woods and forests of Europe.
The drug is made from rhizome (an underground stem robust and branched) that is well known in the cosmetic sector thanks to its diuretic, anti-oedema, vasoconstrictive, anti-inflammatory and vasoprotective properties. For these reasons the Butcher’s broom is used in the production of draining products.
The main component contained in this substance responsible for all its properties are two steroidal saponines: ruscogenin and neoruscogenin and flavonoids (such as rutin or rutinoside). These substances improve the resistance of the capillary walls and help normalizing its activity; this means that there is less loss of fluid.
The Butcher’s broom can be used in therapies against the venous insufficiency because it helps the blood circulation from the periphery to the heart; this effect is also effective when there are edemas this is why it is also used in draining products against tired, heavy and swelling legs.
This plant can be used together with other kind of ingredients that has the same herbal properties (such as Centella, Horse Chestnut, red vine, blueberry, Acerola, ginko Biloba and Vitamins C and E).
Centella:
is a perennial herb that grows in the humid tropical and subtropical region of India and South America.
The drug is made from the leaves, petiols or stolons chopped during their blossoming.
Centella has many active principles such as triterpenes and its derivatives, flavonoids, tannins and an essential oil called “vellarina”.
The therapeutical action of Centella concerns the blood circulation.
The use of its extracts can be used as a cicatrizing for gastric and skin ulcers, as a therapy against chronic venous insufficiency due to microcirculatory deficiency and as a treatment for psoriasis.
It was shown that Centella acts on the connective tissue (biological substance that protects and maintains many body structures) improving the process of healing of the wound and reinforcing the tone and the elasticity of the blood vessels.
Marigold extract:
obtained from Calendola officinalis’ flowers, an herbaceous plant belonging to the Esteraceae family.
The active compounds contained in the marigold extract, especially the flavonoids, carries out an anti-inflammatory effect on sensitive and inflamed skin, stimulate the skin renewal and promote the activity of the skin’s fibroblast favouring the collagen synthesis.
Due to the presence of carotenes, Calendula Officinalis Extract is also indicated as protective against damage caused by solar radiation. The topical use of Calendula Officinalis Extract has no particular contraindications.
Licorice Root:
thanks to its characteristics, it can be used in cosmetics; there are many natural products licorice based. It carries out a lenitive action, helps the repairing process of damaged skins caused by irritations, lightens the dark marks, regulates the sebum production, it is an effective treatment against the damages caused by UV rays, cold and dryness.
The licorice extract helps reducing the wrinkles and helps contrasting the hyper pigmentation of the skin.
It is a real concentrate of health.
